The artist and artisans represented at Green by Design have a passion for their work and the material they work with. You have to see them at work and hear them talk about each of their piece of art to understand how they put not only their skills but also their soul and thoughtfulness into every creation.
Eric Powell
In making sculpture, gates and furniture I cross over the line of so-called function and so-called non-function all the time. On the one hand they are distinct and different languages. On the other hand they inform and influence each other. I don't think in strictly categorical terms. The difference between design and art is something to explore, not something to try to define'.
Jerry and Deborah Kermode
Jerry Kermode is a full time artist and artisan working out of his studio in Sebastopol, California with his partner and wife, Deborah.
Jerry developed an early fascination with form and function watching and riding the waves in Huntington Beach, California. During childhood summers he built small boats to skim tidal flats and surf small waves. Since then he has shaped surfboards, boats, world-class sailboard centerboards and houses consistently bringing forms from the sea to this work.
Pam Morris
Light is the single strongest design element to evoke feeling. I use light together with the materials, shape and color of a decorative luminaire to create an art piece that reflects a specific and special sense of space.
Pam's background in fine arts brings a unique approach to decorative lighting.
Tyler Chartier
Tyler designs and makes unique custom furniture and beautiful, one of a kind bowls. Exceptional pieces of art that reflect your appreciation for superbly made artifact, whether it is for your home or as a gift to a special friend.
Trees are one of the few truly viable renewable resources we have the technology to utilize fully today. If managed properly, a forest can provide all things at once: habitat for wildlife, recreational area for humans, and a steady supply of forest products. Unfortunately that is a big "if".
Dean Stubbing
A husband and father now, Dean started his business back in 1996 when he was also working for Urban Ore in Berkeley, California. He salvaged wood from dumpsters as well a bought salvaged wood from his work place.
Today Dean offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor recycled furniture - from one of a kind farm tables built to order, to rustic garden benches perfect for the eco conscious customer.
